Harris-Stowe State University’s Dean of the Anheuser-Busch School of Business, Dr. Fara Zakery, has been elected President-Elect of the National HBCU Business Deans Roundtable. Zakery was sworn in as President-Elect at a ceremony during the roundtable’s 17th annual summit, which was held May 30- June 1, 2019, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She will serve a one-year term as President-Elect working in tandem with the roundtable’s President, Dr. Anthony Nelson. She will begin a one-year term as President in 2020.
In her role as President-Elect, Dr. Zakery is in charge of coordinating with the organization’s board of directors to manage and plan the 2020 annual conference. She is looking forward to working with Dr. Nelson on several key initiatives including supporting leadership development within the organization and its member schools and creating valuable opportunities to strengthen the connections between industries, government agencies, and academia. Dr. Zakery is also excited about facilitating networking opportunities between HBCU business schools with corporate and government executives and providing counsel to increase professional accreditations and degree offerings at HBCUs that are accredited nationally and internationally.
“I am humbled and deeply grateful to my colleagues for choosing me to serve as President-Elect of the National HBCU Business Deans Roundtable,” said Zakery. “This professional organization has a direct impact on engaging business school deans, faculty, and students with corporate partners in preparing competent graduates for the world of business.”
Dr. Zakery is a Fulbright scholar with more than 30 years of teaching, administrative, and consulting experience in both the private and public sectors. As an educator and practitioner of business and management she has taught at all program levels, undergraduate and graduate in both traditional and online platforms. Dr. Zakery has served as Dean of the Anheuser-Busch School of Business at Harris-Stowe State University since 2007.
