Announcements/Updates

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is hosting the Conference on the Young Years at Tan-Tar-A Conference Center, Osage Beach, Missouri.  This is a yearly early childhood conference held in Missouri.  Because it aligns with our planned professional development in March, I am hoping that the Clay Center staff will have an opportunity to attend.  That said, it is expensive for the entire group.  We are looking for ideas for fundraisers, grants that might fund  professional development/conference attendance, or donations to this effort, please let me know.  The Clay Center staff members work really hard and deserve an opportunity to experience, and benefit from leading early childhood educators and to interact with other professionals in the early childhood community.

Also on February 19, we are planning a parent training with the Incredible Years.  The Incredible Years is a dynamic and informative training that assists parents with learning how to better communicate and interact with their children.  The classes are fun and allow parents an opportunity to share their parenting ideas and experiences through discussion.  Many strong relationships are built as parents discuss various scenarios dealing with their children and learn strategies for addressing behaviors during these “incredible years.”  Babysitting and dinner is provided for families in attendance. More information forthcoming.

Updates:

  1. The next parent meeting will be held on February 6th at 5:30 p.m. in the gross motor room.  We will provide updates on the playground and the strategic plan.
  2. February 14th is Valentine’s Day and many of our classrooms will be celebrating.  Your child’s classroom teacher will provide more information.
  3. February will be a very busy month here at the Clay Center.  February is Black History Month.  We are planning many fun learning activities throughout the month, which will culminate in a celebration on February 28th.  More information will be forthcoming.
  4. Parent Date Night is February 7th.  This night is designed to encourage parents to spend quality time together or with friends while we keep the children. The event runs from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00. The cost for the evening is $35 for the first child, and $25 for every additional child.  All rooms will be open.  We hope that you will take advantage of this (very affordable) opportunity to enjoy some much needed fun, relaxation, or “me” time while your children remain in a safe environment.  We can accept siblings as long as the appropriate paperwork is completed.  If finances for such an evening pose a challenge, do not hesitate to contact me.  We would love for as many parents as possible to participate in this awesome evening.
  5. Procare has been updated for the month of February.  All balances should be paid by February 10th.
