Hornet Summer Bridge Program

Harris-Stowe State University's Hornet Summer Bridge Program (HSBP) is a five or six-week residential experience that allows incoming first-year students to receive the tools necessary to have a successful transition from high school to college. During this experience, students have the opportunity to: 

Complete 7 credit hours

Developmental Integrated Reading/Writing (ENG 0040)

3 credit hours

Developmental Mathematics (ALG 0040)

3 credit hours

Seminar In Higher Education (HSSU0100)

1 credit hour


All students participate in field experiences that provide exposure to the rich history of Missouri and the Civil Rights Movement. In
 addition to the above mentioned benefits, each Bridge Scholar: 

  • Earns community services hours
  • Engages in relevant team building experiences
  • Learns to access the resources available on the HSSU campus
  • Develops relationships with a new and diverse group of peers
