Accelerated Certification Track (ACT) Program

Purpose:

The Accelerated Certification Track (ACT) will provide an opportunity for individuals who possess an undergraduate degree in General Education, Interdisciplinary Studies, General Studies or Educational Studies, to complete additional coursework that will lead to teacher certification from the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE) in the area of Early Childhood. Students will travel as a cohort through this accelerated certification track using a course cycle that is intended to ensure student completion in one (1) year.

Goal:

It is the goal of the program to intentionally support Early Childhood teacher certification through building relationships that are driven by academic support, unique delivery methods, a dedicated course cycle and teacher mentoring upon completion.

Requirements for Admission:

  • Bachelors's degree in General Education, Interdisciplinary Studies, General Studies or Educational Studies
  • 2.75 GPA

Assessment for Completion of Program:

  • Passage of the Missouri Content Assessment (MoCA)

Cost of Program:

  • $16,610 includes tuition, book fee, Watermark portfolio fee, Completion ceremony fee

Breakdown:

  • Summer $5,865 (Includes $100 for Pinning Ceremony + $130 for Watermark)
  • Fall $3,930
  • Spring $6,815

Possible Funding Sources:

  • Eligible to apply for Federal Student Loans

Complete:

  • 2019 – 2020 FAFSA
  • 2020 – 2021 FAFSA

There will be an assigned Financial Aid Counselor, Diamond Spencer, for the Accelerated Certification Program to assist in the process.

Note:

  • This program does not equate to a Master's degree

Delivery Method:

Beginning with two 6-week Summer sessions, followed by two 8-week Fall sessions and culminating with two 8-week Spring sessions, all of the courses have been developed to be delivered in a hybrid or online method and course cycle. There will be a required clinical experience included in the program.
